As you may know by now, former NHL pest Sean Avery is returning to professional hockey, signing a standard player contract with the Orlando Solar Bears of the ECHL.

Last night before the signing was made official, another former NHL pest, Matthew Barnaby, took to Twitter to say that he will sign with any team in the same division as the Orland Solar Bears just so he can play against, and presumably fight, Sean Avery.

"If Avery signs in Orlando I will sign with anyone in that division...You can play me as much as Torts did," Barnaby said.

The Solar Bears responded this morning by saying "Your move, Barnaby."

The feud between Matthew Barnaby and Sean Avery goes back to last summer at least. Barnaby called out Avery on Twitter, saying he'll fight him in 'Rough 'n Rowdy', which is a boxing event owned by Barstool Sports.

Avery responded on Twitter by saying, "You desperate ankle biter. Nice framed stats sheet hanging in your home office. Was that from the game that you played 8 minutes? I'm a little busy, but let me know the next time you're in Cali, and I will take some time to shit kick you in my driveway on Instagram."

Avery then went on the Spittin' Chiclets podcast not long after Barnaby's video calling him out. The 41-year-old said that he wasn't going to take the fight and reiterated what he said on Twitter, telling Barnaby that he'll fight him in his driveway. The full clip of Avery's rant with Barnaby can be found below.

It would certainly be interesting if an ECHL team in the same division as Orlando signs Matthew Barnaby. From a marketing perspective alone, hyping up a game between Matthew Barnaby and Sean Avery would make the demand for tickets to that game go through the roof.
