Sean Avery, well known for being a pest during his time in the NHL , is returning to professional hockey. The 41-year-old has been signed to a standard player contract in the East Coast Hockey League with the Orlando Solar Bears.

"The Orlando Solar Bears have announced that forward Sean Avery has been signed to an ECHL Standard Player Contract. Avery will begin his tenure with the Solar Bears on the team's reserve list." the team said in a statement.

As their statement mentions, Avery will begin his time with the organization on their reserve list. This is so he can get back up to speed as he hasn't played a game of professional hockey since 2012.

The North York (Ontario) native spent parts of ten seasons in the National Hockey League with the Detroit Red Wings, Los Angeles Kings, Dallas Stars and New York Rangers. In 580 games, Avery tallied 1,533 penalty minutes.
