On Friday afternoon, the Minnesota Wild announced that they've placed 28-year-old forward Victor Rask on waivers. Twenty-four hours later, Rask cleared waivers and was assigned to the Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League.

Rask hasn't played in the AHL since he was a member of the Charlotte Checkers during the 2013-14 season. According to Michael Russo of The Athletic, Rask will report to the Iowa Wild in a few days.

"I'm told #mnwild is giving Victor Rask a few days to get his life together and report to Iowa. This obviously was a tough thing for him. But expectation is he'll report," Russo said.

Rask's time in Minnesota hasn't gone as many expected. Back in 2019, he was dealt from the Carolina Hurricanes, who drafted him in the second round in 2011, in exchange for Nino Niederreiter. In each of his four full seasons as a member of the Hurricanes, Rask put up 30+ points, including 21 goals and 48 points during the 2015-16 season.

Since he arrived in the State of Hockey, Rask has had a tough time producing. The most points he's put up in his three full seasons with the Wild was 23 during the 2020-21 campaign. This season has been especially hard for Rask. He's recorded 13 points in 29 games, while averaging only 10:44 time on ice per game.

The Leksand (Sweden) native was also placed on waivers back in early-January, and cleared but was never assigned to the AHL. Rask is currently making $4 million per season and will become an unrestricted free agent in July.
