Forward Ryan Dzingel was traded from the Arizona Coyotes to the Toronto Maple Leafs late Saturday night, but it's pretty clear the Leafs aren't that interested in in services. Toronto GM Kyle Dubas told reporters Sunday that Dzingel is hitting the waiver wire immediately.

Keefe says Dzingel will go on waivers today [Sunday]. Report to the Marlies if he clears. - Leafs reporter David Alter

This has now been made official by the Leafs.

Placed on NHL waivers today: Carter Hutton (ARI), Clark Bishop (OTT) and Ryan Dzingel (TOR). - Chris Johnston, TSN

Dzingel carries a cap hit of $1.1 million and is signed through the end of this season. Chances of someone picking him up on waivers seems slim, so it's likely he'll report to the Marlies. The safe assumption would be that he stays there for some time.

The trade that brought Dzingel to Toronto was little more than Toronto's way of dumping Nick Ritchie and getting defenseman Ilya Lyubushkin, although Lyubushkin likely won't get getting a ton of ice time, barring injuries to the blue line. Dzingel, 29, has four goals and seven points in 29 games this season.
