The Athletic's Michael Russo took the high road with Anson Carter after the two have been feuding on social media over the past week or so.
The Twitter beef started when Anson Carter called out the Minnesota Wild and Russo, saying that they are not as good as they appear to be and that their depth is being overvalued by their fans and reporters. Russo then explained that he has great respect for Carter, but maybe he shouldn't call out fans and reporters who watch them regularly compared to someone who watches them once a month.
Carter then called out Russo on national television during an intermission report on NHL on TNT. It seemed that the conflict would continue to get worse, but Russo made a move to stop the feud.
Russo issued a heartfelt apology on Twitter explaining that the two had a conversation and both parties are ready to move on.
"This afternoon, Anson Carter, somebody I do have great respect for, and I had a good, healthy conversation. We apologized to each other and are ready to move on."
"It's time to tone down the rhetoric and put the focus back on the game in a respectful and inclusive manner."
"This was obviously a long, stressful, emotional day and I can't tell you how much I appreciate the outpouring of support I always receive from all of you and the hockey world."
"It's beyond humbling. I'm lucky to write for Minnesota Wild fans."
"Thanks from the bottom of my heart.»
«Let's all continue to enjoy this awesome sport and the great job Anson and the entire NHL on TNT production/panel does weekly.»
It's definitely a bright spot to see that the two have apologized to each other and appear to be moving on, but it is interesting to see that only Russo has issued an apology on social media.
