After not getting the general manager position with the Montreal Canadiens, it appears that former NHLer Danny Briere will receive a promotion within the Philadelphia Flyers organization.

According to Anthony SanFilippo of CrossingBroad, the Flyers will announced in the next week or two that Briere will become the team's new assistant general manager. But there is a bit of confusion on his actual title, with Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman saying Briere may be the "assistant to the general manager".

Briere, 44, currently works in the Flyers organization as a team consultant and as the president of the Maine Mariners in the ECHL.

The Gatineau, Quebec native spent six seasons with the Philadelphia Flyers during his NHL career. In 364 games, Briere had 283 points (124 G, 159 A), 331 penalty minutes and was a -13. He played a key role in helping the Flyers reach the Stanley Cup Final in 2010, leading the NHL in playoff points with 30.
