During the 32 Thoughts segment on Hockey Night in Canada, Sportsnet insider Jeff Marek revealed that the Toronto Maple Leafs are among several teams that are interested in signing Barrie Colts goaltender Mack Guzda.

"One more goaltender, there's a young man by the name of Mack Guzda. He's an overage netminder, plays with the Barrie Colts of the OHL. That is someone the Maple Leafs are very much trying to sign. Their pursuit I'm told is very aggressive. They met with the netminder this week, I believe on Thursday," Marek said.

He added, "But they're not the only team trying to sign this netminder, who's having a great season in the OHL. The Penguins, the Rangers, the Preds are all considered front runners, but also, the Islanders, Ducks, and Carolina Hurricanes are said to be interested. This netminder, by the way, is from Knoxville, Tennessee."

Since being traded from the Owen Sound Attack to the Barrie Colts in mid-November, Guzda has been one of the best goaltenders in the Ontario Hockey League. In 13 games, he has a record of 11-2-0 with a 1.89 G.A.A., .935 save percentage and two shutouts.
