Former Sarnia Sting scoring record holder Reid Boucher was recently removed from the team's official history. He pleaded guilty in December to assaulting a 12-year-old girl in 2011. At the time, he was 17 and staying with a billet family in Michigan. The 12-year-old victim was his billet sister.

In 2011, Boucher was playing with the USA Hockey National Team Development Program. He then joined the Sting, playing with them from 2011-2013 before playing for three different NHL teams. Boucher now has found a home playing in the KHL with Lokomotiv Yaroslavl.

Boucher scored a team record 62 goals in 2012-13 with Sarnia, but his name is no longer on the Sting's website. Steven Stamkos is now listed as the record-holder with 58 goals in 2007-08.

"The Ontario Hockey League had no prior knowledge of allegations made against Reid Boucher from actions during his time with USA Hockey," OHL spokesperson Josh Sweetland wrote to The Sarnia Observer. "The case is currently before the courts and the league will take necessary action once the matter has been fully addressed."

According to the Detroit Free Press, the victim said she told friends about the assaults nearly right after they happened. After hearing about this, one friend told her parents and one parent contacted USA Hockey.

"In March of 2011, we spoke to parents of both minors and there were no accusations made, but Boucher was proactively removed from the billet home," USA Hockey spokesperson Dave Fischer said in a statement. "In March of 2021, we were notified by police of allegations of sexual misconduct and have fully co-operated with their investigation."

Boucher may even get the boot in Russia. The KHL is on a temporary break right now due to a number of COVID-19 outbreaks. However, several commentators, political figures and Russian hockey stars have called for his removal from the league.
