Following Wednesday's morning skate, Boston Bruins head coach Bruce Cassidy announced that recently signed goaltender Tuukka Rask will make his 2021-22 debut on Thursday night against the Philadelphia Flyers.

After being released from his PTO with Providence yesterday morning, Rask, 34, officially signed a prorated one-year contract worth $1 million with the Boston Bruins.. He became an unrestricted free agent on July 28th last year and didn't sign with anyone because he had hip surgery to fix a torn labrum.

The Savonlinna, Finland native had been working out and rehabbing at the Bruins practice facility with the intentions of re-signing with them at some point during the 2021-22 season.

Boston is hoping that Rask can get up to speed quick and help them in their pursuit of a playoff berth. The Bruins currently sit fourth in the Atlantic Division with a record of 19-11-2 and are holding down the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference with the Detroit Red Wings only three points behind them.

The Bruins will be back in action on Wednesday night when they host their arch-rival, the Montreal Canadiens, for the 752nd all-time meeting between the teams. Rask will be on the bench as the backup tonight. Puck drop is set for 7pm ET and can be seen nationally across Canada on Sportsnet and TNT in the United States.
