For anyone who has followed the Edmonton Oilers this season, you are will aware that the team is in a massive funk right now, and plenty of that has to do with goaltending.

Mikko Koskinen has been far too inconsistent, while Mike Smith has struggled to stay healthy. There is good news for the Oilers however, as Alex Stalock, who was claimed off waivers from the Minnesota Wild nearly a year ago, is heading to the Bakersfield Condors of the American Hockey League to begin a comeback on his NHL career. For those unaware, the 34-year-old was dealing with a heart condition that has held him out of game action since the 2019-20 season.

While this is a great story, expectations do need to be tempered given the amount of time he has had off. Still, it could be a great addition for the Oilers if he is able to regain his form, as they need all the help they can get in the goaltending position. It will be interesting to keep tabs on how he performs as he attempts his NHL comeback.
