With the way things have been going for the Edmonton OIlers lately, the last thing the team needs is to lose superstar Connor McDavid for any period of time. However, it appears that may be happening.

McDavid was missing from practice Tuesday, and considering he took a maintenance day just recently, his absence was immediately noticed.

Rishaug later followed up that Tweet by saying McDavid's absence is COVID related.

According to Elliotte Friedman, both McDavid and Derek Ryan have tested positive.

The likely scenario is that he tested positive on a rapid test and will now need to wait for the results of a PCR test before finding out if he can get back on the ice or will be added to COVID protocol. Auston Matthews with the Toronto Maple Leafs went through the same thing Monday, but ended up testing negative on his PCR test and should get clearance to play ASAP. Oddly enough, Edmonton's next game is slated to take place Wednesday night against the Leafs.
