The Anaheim Ducks have been without a general manager since early-November when they placed Bob Murray on administrative leave following an investigation related to professional conduct. A few days after being placed on administrative leave, Murray resigned as general manager and entered an alcohol abuse program.

It's been nearly two months since all of that happened and now the Ducks are finally gearing up to begin their search for a new general manager. The team is putting together a general manager search committee and it includes two franchise legends, Paul Kariya and Scott Niedermayer according to TSN's Pierre LeBrun.

"Hearing that the Anaheim Ducks have formed a GM search committee which includes team CEO Michael Schulman, Scott Niedermayer, Paul Kariya and President of Business Operations Aaron Teats. Obviously owners Susan and Henry Samueli also part of things," LeBrun said in a tweet on Tuesday.

Niedermayer, 48, spent five seasons with the Ducks from 2005 to 2010, four of them as team captain and helped them win the Stanley Cup in 2007. Kariya, 47, was Anaheim's first ever selection int he NHL Entry Draft, going fourth overall to them in 1993. He spent nine seasons with the club, winning the Lady Byng Memorial Trophy twice. Both Niedermayer and Kariya have their numbers retired by the Ducks organization.

It's unclear who the candidates will be for the vacancy in Anaheim, but some names to keep an eye on are: Jeff Solomon (Ducks interim GM), Martin Madden Jr (Ducks assistant GM), Dave Nonis (Ducks assistant GM), Mike Futa, Marc Bergevin, and possibly even former Ducks defenceman Chris Pronger.
