Canadian Caleb Eefting is extremely grateful for the medical care he received following a very scary incident during a game in the Hockeyettan league in Sweden. On December 30th, Eefting, who plays for Mörrums GoIS, took a skate to the neck during a game that left a big gash. Here's video of the incident:

"They put a pressure on my neck and forced me to lie down. To try to stop the blood flow. I felt no pain at all, but when I saw that the sweater and gloves were covered in blood, I was terrified," Eefting told Aftonbladet .

"I kept asking if I was going to die, and they were just trying to calm me down."

Eefting had to undergo surgery in order to fix up the cut. He says he's doing great now and credits doctors in Sweden with saving his life.

"I'm up and feeling good! Thank you so much to the amazing staff at
@KRIFHockey. You guys saved my life. And to the amazing doctors here in Karlskrona. Can't wait to get back on the ice again!"

Eefting, 26, has been playing in Sweden since the 2016-17 season. The defenceman has three goals and 11 points in 21 games so far this year.
