Pittsburgh Penguins star Evgeni Malkin has yet to play a game this season, having been placed on the LTIR in October with a knee injury. Recently, Malkin has returned to full contact practices with the team, although he claims that he is still approximately 10 days away. In practice, two different reports have Malkin skating on the fourth or second line for now.

Malkin's sense of humor however appears to be fully healthy and ahead of schedule. At a presser, he was asked about his contract status. The 35-year-old, who is in his last season of an eight-year, $76 million dollar deal deflected the question deftly.

It's hard to believe that the Penguins will allow one of the linchpins of their dynasty of three Stanley Cups between 2009 and 2017 to simply walk away. Malkin's answer, though said jokingly, may be an indication that he willing to take a pay cut to end his storied career with Penguins.
