When the United States forfeited its game against Switzerland Tuesday after two positive tests for COVID-19 among its players, there was concern the tournament was in jeopardy. However, a member of the International Ice Hockey Federation council is convinced that's not going to happen.

"Everything has been done to ensure that the tournament is played to the end," said Heikki Hietanen. "There is no point in speculating about things like canceling it. We do our best for the safety and health of the players."

The IIHF has already decided no team will be relegated to the B tournament after this one ends specifically due to concern that a team would have to forfeit so many games they would end up at the bottom of the heap.

With the forfeit, the record books will show that Switzerland won the game 1-0.
