While it seemed pretty much a given that the Boston Bruins would be bringing back goaltender Tuukka Rask this season, we now know what the plans are for his return. Rask has not played at all since last season, after undergoing hip surgery during the summer. He is technically a free agent but has stated he has no interest in playing for any other team but the Bruins. It appears Boston plans to ease him back into playing.

"Current plan is for Tuukka Rask to play for Providence during next month's three-game road trip," said Fluto Shinzawa of The Athletic.

That road trip starts on January 8th in Tampa, Florida. The Bruins face the Washington Capitals on the 10th, and then the Montreal Canadiens on the 12th. The team has 16 games in 31 days in January, so an extra goaltender would certainly be a huge help.

Rask, 34, has said he plans to be a cheap option for Boston, so it's likely he'll sign a minimum deal for the remainder of the season. Rask has spent his entire NHL career with the Bruins.
