The Soo Greyhounds of the Ontario Hockey League have released a statement after their goaltender, Tucker Tynan, was accused online of being involved in a bookmaking operation and allegedly ripping people off.

"The team and league are aware of the matter," Greyhounds president and governor Tim Lukenda said in a statement to the Sault Star Monday. "We have no further comment at this time."

"The league takes such matters related to gambling and the integrity of our games very seriously and are in the process of reviewing the allegations," read a statement from the league.

A Twitter user going by the name JoeyKnish22 accused Tynan of taking money from a friend for a bet from him but refusing to pay out when he won. He claims after making the accusations online that other users came forward to say they had the same thing happen to them.

Tynan eventually deleted his Twitter account after the accusations, but made a statement before he did denying any involvement in any of the things mentioned.

"It was made clear what they wanted, when they obtained my number and messaged me," Tynan said on Twitter. "They made it clear by any means necessary, their intention was to extort me out of money, as they claimed someone I know stiffed them."

If Tynan's name sounds familiar, he was involved in an ugly on-ice incident while a member of the Niagara IceDogs in 2019. He suffered a deep laceration to his thigh after a collision in the crease against the London Knights
