It was the talk of the hockey world Thursday night. Zdeno Chara of the New York Islanders squared off with Yakov Trenin of the Nashville Predators and, simply put, left him a bloody mess after continuing to land several punches while Trenin's jersey was over his face (you can see the full video at the end of this article).

For anyone not aware, this wasn't the first time these two players decided to go toe-to-toe, and it appears Chara was seeking revenge for the last fight. In January of 2020, while Chara was still with the Boston Bruins, Trenin landed a hit on Charlie McAvoy that Chara didn't like. However, as the two fought, Trenin landed a big punch that actually made Big Z's legs buckle, something he apparently has not forgotten. Check it out:

Not too many players can say they've made Chara do that. The big man got his revenge last night, leaving Trenin bloodied after a hit on Sebastian Aho (not that one, the other one). I'm a bit surprised the referees didn't stop the fight with Trenin's face covered with his jersey. I've seen them step in for much, much less. Trenin would get the last laugh in this one, though as he scored the game-tying goal in the third period, with the Predators going on to beat the Islanders 4-3.
