A scary incident took place in a game on Tuesday night between the Chicago Blackhawks and Winnipeg Jets, when Blackhawks forward Jujhar Khaira appeared to be knocked unconscious and had to be stretchered off due to a huge hit from Jacob Trouba.

Khaira, 27, took a breakout pass in his skates near his own blueline and was levelled by Trouba immediately afterward. It was a scary incident, and even worse given the fact Khaira dealt with multiple head injuries last season as a member of the Edmonton Oilers. He was immediately transferred by ambulance to Northwestern Hospital after the hit, but according to head coach Derek King is doing well.

«He's up. He's talking,» said King. «He's very responsive.»

It is great to hear that Khaira appears to be doing well. Hopefully he is able to make a speedy recovery and get back on the ice soon. As far as the hit itself goes, it will be interesting to see whether or not the NHL's Department of Player Safety chooses to punish Trouba, as he did appear to make contact with Khaira's head during the collision.
