With Brendan Lemieux's 5-game suspension being handed down from the league on Tuesday evening, he is now the part owner of a piece of NHL history, along with his father, Claude Lemieux.

While being in the history books is often an honour, I'm not sure that the Lemieux family want this one to go down as a part of their family legacy.

According to Bar Down, Claude and Brendan Lemieux are the NHL's first ever father/son pair to be suspended for biting a player on the opposing team.

Brendan Lemeiux biting Sens captain Brady Tkachuk on Saturday has brought things full circle, almost 36 years after his father bit Jim Peplinski of the Calgary Flames in a scrum following the final horn in Game 4 of the 1986 Stanley Cup Finals during his time with the Montreal Canadiens.

While Sens head coach DJ Smith could not confirm whether or not Tkachuk required a tetanus shot following Saturday's incident, Peplinksi did require one and he was not happy. He confirmed as much when he stated that he wasn't aware that the league allowed cannibalism.
