Earlier this afternoon, the San Jose Sharks placed Evander Kane on waivers for the intent of sending him to their AHL affiliate, the San Jose Barracuda. Kane's 21 game suspension for faking a COVID-19 vaccination document is set to expire after tonight's game against Chicago.

Following the news of Kane's placement on the waiver wire, his new agent, Dan Milstein, released a statement on his Twitter account.

"Over the past few weeks, we have been discussing Evander's return to San Jose. We were not surprised by the Sharks' decision to put him on waivers and, if he does clear, he will report to the Barracudas. Evander is looking forward to resuming his NHL career this season," Milstein said.

Kane's agent and the San Jose are trying to facilitate a trade away from the team, with the Sharks willing to retain upwards of 50% of the Vancouver native's salary.

According to Rick Dhaliwal of The Athletic, Milstein has reached out to Kane's hometown team to see if there is a fit.

"Kane recently hired new agent Dan Milstein of Gold Star Hockey who is reaching out to teams including Vancouver." Dhaliwal said.

On Saturday night, Larry Brooks of the New York Post shared that an Eastern Conference team is interested in acquiring Evander Kane.

"There is credible chatter reaching Slap Shots that an Eastern Conference team has shown considerable interest in dealing for Evander Kane, the Sharks winger who on Nov. 30 is due to come off his 21-game suspension for violating NHL/NHLPA COVID-19 protocols, and no, it's not the Rangers," Brooks said.

We'll have to wait to see what happens with Kane at 2pm ET tomorrow, if any teams placed a waiver claim on him. If not, trade talks will likely heat up.
