It was quite the spectacle on Saturday when Ottawa Senators captain Brady Tkachuk had locked horns with Los Angeles Kings forward Brendan Lemieux, with the two tumbling to the ice where they continued to brawl until the referees were able to gain control of the situation.

When the tussle was broken up, a visibly irate Tkachuk was seen yelling at the officials that Lemieux had bit him during the fight, which has earned the 25-year-old an in-person hearing with the Department of Player Safety. Early word is that the impending suspension will be a lengthy one.

Following the incident, a Red Wings fan had tagged former Detroit Red Wings grinder Darren McCarty in a tweet to get his take on the play. McCarty knows a thing or two about mixing it up with a Lemieux after being engaged in a heated rivalry with Brendan's father, Claude Lemieux, who was a member of the Colorado Avalanche in the 90's.

McCarty, who famously wailed on Lemieux while he was in a turtled position in a line brawl during the 1997 Stanley Cup Playoffs, had quite the response to Brendan Lemieux biting Tkachuk.

"#genetics", McCarty tweeted out, indicating that he believes that he apple doesn't fall too far from the tree.

We all know that there was no love lost between those 90's Wings and Avs. Apparently, McCarty still holds a bit of a grudge. Understandably so, after Claude Lemieux had drove McCarty's teammate Kris Draper's face into the boards with a vicious cheap shot. It's safe to say that McCarty doesn't care too much for the Lemieux family.
