Family and friends of former hockey player Matt Swaby are hoping to raise funds for his wife and children after he passed away suddenly. A GoFundMe page has been set up asking for donations for "loving wife Carla and their three boys Thomas, 6, Blake, 4 and Kody 2."

Swaby, who was 34 at the time of his death, played three seasons with the Tri-City Americans of the Western Hockey League, before ending up with the Edmonton Oil Kings. He was named captain for the 2007-08 season, the team's first year in the WHL. Following that, he played another three seasons with the University of Saskatchewan before leaving hockey to focus on other things.

There are very few details regarding his death, although his obituary states it was a "tragic farming accident" that happened on Friday. The Oil Kings have posted the GoFundMe page in the hopes that more people will donate. Our sincere condolences to Swaby's family and friend and this difficult time.
