The Los Angeles Kings are about to get a massive boost to their d-core, as early as this weekend. According to Kings insider, The Mayor, Doughty could return Saturday, but won't be back any later than Tuesday night.

"Update on Drew Doughty...From what I'm hearing, he's questionable for Saturday as of right now. However, should be back no later than Tuesday vs. Anaheim." The Mayor said on Twitter.

Earlier on Wednesday, Dennis Bernstein of The Fourth Period tweeted a picture of Doughty in a full contact jersey at Los Angeles' morning skate, which signalled to many fans across the league that the 31-year-old will be returning very soon.

The London, Ontario native has been out of the Kings' lineup since late last month after suffering a knee injury on October 22nd vs the Dallas Stars.

Following his evaluation with team doctors, it was determined that Doughty avoided a worst case scenario and suffered no ligament damage, but would still miss eight weeks of action.

Doughty's return on Saturday or next Tuesday would be a month ahead of schedule, which will provide a big boost to Los Angeles' lineup. In Doughty's absence, the Kings have gone 7-5-2.

Prior to his injury, Doughty was enjoying a great start to his 2021-22 campaign, recording seven points (one goal, six assists) in four games.
