A bit of a strange occurrence in Tuesday night's game between the Dallas Stars and Detroit Red Wings. Detroit's Dylan Larkin, who had scored earlier in the game, was noticeably absent for the third period even though there was no obvious reason why. Following the game, which the Stars won 5-2, Red Wings coach Jeff Blashill told reporters a test for COVID-19 that Larkin had done pre-game had come back positive.

"Obviously, it was in the middle of the game, which is tough," Blashill said. "We got to figure out exactly where everything stands, talk to Steve (general manager Yzerman) tonight, tomorrow, and figure out what we're going to do for Thursday."

Frank Seravalli added some further details on Wednesday, stating the PCR nasal swab test had been Tuesday morning but results had not been received by the time the game had started.

Larkin ended up playing just over 12 minutes in the game before getting pulled. This seems like a very odd way for the league to go about this. If it's insisting on tests for players, why would they be allowed to get on the ice, potentially exposing everyone else, before results are received?
