Not much is going right for the Vancouver Canucks at the moment, but it seems the team doesn't want local media to concentrate on the bad stuff. The Canucks are off to a horrible start with a 5-9-2 record and it appears both the coach and GM are on the hot seat. However, according to Don Taylor and Rick Dhaliwal of "The Team", they were asked privately to tone down the negativity.

"This show came under fire over the weekend...privately," said Taylor as Dhaliwal was yelling "it's ridiculous" in the background.

"Here's what they have to realize," continued Taylor. "If we don't attempt to tell it like it is, and try to put lipstick on a pig, we're out of work. Nobody's going to watch this show."

"You should be thankful people care, that they still care enough to complain."

The program hosts also questioned what, exactly, there was to be positive about with the team, outside of goaltender Thatcher Demko and forward Nils Hoglander. Dhaliwal, formerly of TSN, was particularly passionate with his response to the request.

"You've served this province and this city eight years of losing!," said Dhaliwal. "And you're whining about the negativity? It's ridiculous."

"For crying out loud," he continued. "Don't bitch about the negativity when you've lost eight years in a row."
