Goaltender Carey Price will be returning to the Montreal Canadiens Monday after spending 30 days in the NHL's Player Assistance program. Price has not played yet this season and likely won't be getting back between the pipes right away as the team has no idea where he is in his recovery from knee surgery during the offseason. While the support for Price has been overwhelming from just about the entire NHL, at least one sportswriter believes the fans should get an explanation.

"Interesting to see whether Carey Price discusses the reasons for his entry into the player assistance program as Jonathan Drouin did," said Jack Todd on Twitter "Rather anticipating that he will not."

Drouin was open about his reasons for entering the program after his return, citing anxiety and insomnia as the main factors. When a responder pointed out that Price should be given the opportunity to be comfortable with revealing the reasons for his absence, Todd indicated that fans should get an explanation.

"I don't disagree with that," said Todd. "But when his absence has helped lead to a disastrous start for his team, an explanation is in order."

That seemed to set off many people who feel Price doesn't owe anything to anyone. Many responded they have no interest in knowing the reasons and that people should be given privacy in order to end the stigma around mental health, addictions and those types of issues.

While no specific reason was given for Price entering the program, a post from his wife indicated that mental health was at least one of the reasons behind it. Meanwhile, if anyone besides Todd is expecting an explanation right away, they aren't going to get it. According to Stu Cowen, Montreal has already announced that Price will not be speaking with media upon his return until "timing is agreed upon by doctors."
