It's been a tough start to the 2021-22 season for the Arizona Coyotes. They've have an 0-9-1 record through ten games, and have just lost one of their top four defenceman for the entire season.

According to Coyotes insider Craig Morgan, defenceman Conor Timmins will miss the remainder of the season with a knee injury.

Timmins, 23, was hit by Panthers defenceman Radko Gudas during a game between Arizona and Florida on October 25th. Timmins left the game, did not return, and was placed on injured reserve the next day.

The St. Catherines, Ontario native was drafted by the Colorado Avalanche in 2017, played parts of two seasons there before being traded to Arizona in the off-season for goaltender Darcy Kuemper. In 37 career games in the NHL, Timmins has seven assists, eight penalty minutes, and is a +2.

Timmins' injury could be viewed as an opportunity for someone like Victor Soderstrom or Dysin Mayo to step up into a bigger role, while Jakob Chychrun will have to continue playing an average of 25+ minutes a night on the top pairing going forward.
