Things between the Colorado Avalanche and St. Louis Blues got quite heated last night when Jordan Binnington fired a puck at Darcy Kuemper during a stoppage in play and then swung his stick near the face of Nazem Kadri.

Rightfully so, Binnington was assessed a ten-minute misconduct. What was very surprising however, was that Kadri was given the same despite not appearing to do anything out of line. After the game, he spoke with media and vented his frustrations on the decision made by the officials.

I have no idea,» Kadri said when asked why he was penalized. «I don't know why I got a ten minute penalty there.

«We exchanged some words, I got a stick swung at my face. I'm getting misconducts for just talking now.»

Meanwhile, Kadri's coach, Jared Bednar, said his player deserved the misconduct penalty.

"It was the right call. That would have been a big goal for us. Kadri, you can't continue to try and escalate an altercation. It's no different from getting into a fight," said Bednar.

"Sometimes they'll let you get away with it but that had dragged on long enough. You can't go back and try to fire things back up."

It is clear that these two teams can't stand each other, which should make games between them great ones to tune into moving forward. Even better is that they are both very good teams who could very well meet up in the playoffs once again at season's end.
