Zach Werenski took no prisoners when in his recent postgame interview, he went in on Habs forward Patrik Laine for his pregame comments about the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Though there is little doubt that Patrik Laine is a talented and productive forward, his time in the NHL has been anything but smooth sailing.

Following a long period in injured reserve recovering from both physical injuries and mental health struggles, Laine moved from the Columbus Blue Jackets to the Montreal Canadiens.

Though he has maintained some relationships from across the border, the new Habs forward gathered the vitriol of fans and former teammates for his comments ahead of their game against Columbus.

While being interviewed shortly ahead of the game, Laine shoved aside fans who root against him while also throwing the team under the bus, implying they have a lot more trouble than him on the ice.

"It's great to see some of the fan base happy to see me happy. For the other ones, I don't really care what you think [...] Hopefully it's positive. If it's not, I really don't care. If guys are going to be pissed off and bitter about something, that's your issue. I'm having a great time regardless, and I don't care what other people are saying [..] It'll be cool to shut 'em down. There's always idiots who do that. Hopefully not the entire building, with everything I did here for the community and for the team. If somebody feels like they want to boo, I feel like they've got bigger issues going on than me coming back here."

Laine quickly paid for his words after becoming the immediate target of Columbus in the first period, resulting in him being pulled during the first period over injury concerns.

However, his condition and a 5-4 win were not enough for every Blue Jackets faithful.

Columbus defenseman Zach Werenski was interviewed after their victory and ultimately was given the space to speak on the new Montreal Canadiens player's remarks.

Werenski went off on Laine, calling what he said "unacceptable," stating the team had been nothing but supportive of him.

"It's unfortunate. You know, I think us guys here and a guy that's been here, we were nothing but good teammates to him, nothing but good friends to him, and for him to bash us like that, I think it's just unacceptable."

Additionally, Werenski suggested that Laine's first-period departure was weak before declaring the room's frustration with his comments.

"You know, I hope he's all right with whatever he's dealing with tonight, but he didn't finish the game. You know, a couple hits and I don't know what happened, but it's unfortunate, you know. We were nothing but good teammates to him. For him to come in and say that is ********. Definitely not happy about it and none of us in this room are happy about it. It speaks more about him than it does us."

While there is no update on Laine's condition, Werenski proved there is no doubt that the former Blue Jacket has more than a potential injury to mend.
