Over the weekend, Vegas Golden Knights goaltender Robin Lehner dropped a bombshell regarding coaches utilizing Benzodiazepines and Ambien without an actual prescription to treat several different issues that players face throughout the course of a season.

Lehner called out Philadelphia Flyers head coach Alain Vigneault by name for this same indiscretion, though Lehner did not inform anyone of how he came by this information, since he has never played for the Flyers.

It has since been confirmed that Vigneault has, in fact, issued these drugs to players in the past and that this former Flyers' 2nd-overall pick Nolan Patrick - who was recently acquired by the Vegas Golden Knights - was one of the players this was done with.

On Sunday, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman had reported that the NHL would be looking to speak with Lehner directly regarding these claims.

Friedman's report was met with great skepticism from former NHLer and HDA representative Akim Aliu, who suggested that the NHL had essentially ghosted him after the league vowed to investigate allegations of racism, which occurred during Aliu's playing career.

"And perhaps the NHL will feign interest, claim to investigate, and never get back to you for two years and hope the public attention just goes away," Aliu said in a quote tweet on Twitter on Friedman's original tweet.

This one could get messy - if it's not already - as the league continues to come under fire for failing to adequately and transparently deal with issues accordingly.
