Out of the 25 players that were put on waivers by NHL teams on Saturday, just one was picked up. The New Jersey Devils claimed defenceman Mason Geertsen from the New York Rangers. Geertsen was a fourth round pick of the Colorado Avalanche in 2013 and has yet to play a game in the NHL.

Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet expressed surprise that blueliner Kale Clague managed to get through without being snagged by another team. The 23-year-old was a second round pick of the LA Kings in 2016. He's had some very good seasons in the WHL and AHL, but has managed just 22 games in the NHL so far, recording six assists.

Meanwhile, another batch of players hit the waiver wire on Sunday. Four of them are members of the Montreal Canadiens: Michael McNiven, Laurent Dauphin, Jean-Sebastien Dea, and Brandon Baddock. Here is the complete list:

These players will be sent to their respective AHL teams if they manage to pass through waivers at 2 PM ET on Monday.
