It was another first round exit for the Toronto Maple Leafs last season as they blew a 3-1 series lead to the Montreal Canadiens. They'll have to be better this season, and goaltender Jack Campbell says the team is motivated to make it deeper in the playoffs.

"There's no doubt in the desire to win and the things we're willing to do and just how much we care as a group," Campbell said on the 'NHL@TheRink' podcast Wednesday. "We're with the fans. We want it so bad. There's no excuses. We're using it to fuel us, and I think you'll see that, and you'll see it this season with the way we come out this year."

Campbell will have a new goaltender to form a tandem with after general manager Kyle Dubas went out and signed Petr Mrazek to a three-year contract worth $11.4 million ($3.8 million AAV). Frederik Andersen left the Maple Leafs in the off-season and signed with the Carolina Hurricanes.

The Maple Leafs will open their 2021-22 campaign when they welcome the Montreal Canadiens to Scotiabank Arena on Wednesday, October 13th.
