Over a month ago, the Columbus Blue Jackets announced that they've signed depth forward Zac Rinaldo to a one-year contract. Now, on the eve of training camps opening, the team has decided to not invite him to participate according Aaron Portzline of The Athletic.

"Source close to Zac Rinaldo tells The Athletic that #CBJ made it clear to Rinaldo he wasn't welcome at training camp. Awaiting explanation from club." Portzline said in a tweet on Tuesday.

Blue Jackets' President of Hockey Operations John Davidson told reporters Rinaldo is not vaccinated and therefore isn't welcome at camp. He'll go to AHL camp with the Cleaveland Monsters when it opens later this month.

Rinaldo spoke at the event saying that he's not anti-mask or anti-vaccine, he's just pro-choice. But he did say that he was against the implementation of vaccine passports.

"I am solely voting for PPC because of these mandates," said Rinaldo. "They are going to get rid of these mandates."

Columbus recently fired assistant coach Sylvain Lefebvre for refusing to get vaccinated against COVID-19.
