After yet another playoff collapse earlier this year, Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Kyle Dubas knows that the pressure is on.

«I think it's certainly fair to say that if there aren't changes to our performance in the end that there will be changes to the organization,» Dubas said on The Bob McCown Podcast. «That comes with the territory in operating in a market like this and operating with a team that hasn't reached its potential in the playoffs.»

After another great regular season in 2020-21 in which they finished with a record of 35-14-7, the Leafs failed to advance past the first round once again despite leading the Montreal Canadiens in a best of seven series 3-1. With the disappointing exit, their streak of failing to win a playoff series since 2004 is still going.

To be fair, this doesn't fall completely on Dubas. He has put together a very impressive core group of players who have failed to deliver when it matters most. However, some of the main criticism towards him was the amount of money he chose to spend on his core, which has left holes in other parts of the roster. If they are unable to advance past the first round again in 2021-22, the Leafs will likely look to make a change in management.
