The winningest coach in NHL history has given his take on the whole offer sheet to Jesperi Kotkaniemi by the Carolina Hurricanes and the trade that brought Christian Dvorak to Montreal after the team let Kotkaniemi walk. Bowman, 87, was in Montreal Friday for a special event.

"The players who are drafted have always been star players when they were young. They come into the National League and they think it's easy, but it's not easy, for any player. Kotkaniemi is a good player," he said in an interview with RDS.

At the same time, Bowman believes getting Dvorak was a great move for the Habs.

"I think Carolina took advantage of the rules, but I know the other player, Dvorak, well. He's a good player," said Bowman. "He doesn't play on the first line, but he's defensive and efficient on offense. He scored 17 goals in 56 games last season."

Despite his age, Bowman remains a part of the NHL, serving as a special advisor to the Chicago Blackhawks where his son Stan is the general manager.
