Although there is a trade freeze currently in effect until Thursday at 1 p.m. ET, teams are still talking to each other about potential deals that could be finalized during the draft weekend. One of those teams currently engaged in trade talks is the Columbus Blue Jackets.

According to David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, the Blue Jackets are currently in talks with the Dallas Stars about a potential deal that would see Seth Jones land in the Lone Star State. Jones was born in Arlington, Texas, which is a suburb of Dallas.

"The Columbus Blue Jackets already have a lot on their plate, roster wise. They continue to traverse the Seth Jones trade market landscape – the Dallas Stars are very interested in him," Pagnotta said.

The Blue Jackets are looking for a significant return for their young defenceman, and Pagnotta added that Columbus has interest in Stars blueliner John Klingberg.

Jones, 26, played in all 56 games this season for the Blue Jackets where he recorded 28 points (5 G, 23 A), 26 penalty minutes, and was a -18.
