Ryan Strome was one of the few forwards to get protection from the Seattle Expansion Draft by the New York Rangers, but the team may have plans to move him anyway. According to hockey reporter Andy Strickland, the 28-year-old forward is getting a good amount of interest from other teams, including the Ottawa Senators.

Strome, a former fifth overall pick, struggled a bit after his first few years, but has really found his game again with the Rangers over the past two seasons. In 2020-21, he came close to being a point-per-game player, recording 14 goals and 49 points in 56 games.

There are rumours the Rangers are attempting to put together a package for Buffalo's Jack Eichel and dealing Strome could net some assets to be used in a deal. Strome has just one year left on his contract that carries a cap hit if $4.5 million.
