It's been a wild expansion draft transaction freeze day as the trades continue to trickle in after the 3pm ET deadline with the announcement that Andrew Ladd's contract is on the move from Long Island.

According to Sportsnet's David Amber, Ladd and his $5.5M AAV through 2022-23 are on the way to Arizona, with draft picks involved as compensation.

Just 48 hours ago, the New York Islanders had a boatload of pending UFA's and RFA's in need of new deals with not a lot of cap space to work with to sign new deals. Now, with Andrew Ladd (ARI) and Nick Leddy (DET) off the books, it appears as though the Isles and GM Lou Lamoriello have some breathing room.

Per Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, the picks involved are a 2021 2nd (COL), a 2022 2nd (the higher of the two picks between NYI's own and Colorado's) and a conditional 2022 3rd.

Arizona has apparently stated that they expect Ladd to play for the Coyotes this season to provide some veteran leadership.

Ladd played just 1 lone AHL game last season for the Isles' affiliate, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.

The Isles reportedly receive nothing in return in the deal.
