could shockingly be sellers ahead of the 2025 trade deadline, and now we know their asking price for talented defenseman Brandon Carlo, who has two years remaining on his current contract while carrying a $4.1 million salary cap hit..

The 2024/25 season isn't playing out how anyone in Boston expected, and with the trade deadline approaching, speculation persists around their captain Brad Marchand, with many teams linked to the veteran star.

He's not the only one in the headlines however, as players like Trent Frederic and Nikita Zadorov have also been linked to massive trades, with another player now leaning towards becoming a trade piece for Boston.

That would be 28-year old defenseman Brandon Carlo, who has been fairly consistent during his time in Boston, and with 610 NHL games under his belt, he's certainly an intriguing piece ahead of the deadline with not many defenseman on the market.

According to reporter Jimmy Murphy, the team now know exactly what they want in return for him, and it is reportedly a roster player and a second-round pick or a high level prospect.

This would certainly make sense for a Boston team that is light on players of the future with a will to compete for the Stanley Cup Playoffs right now, but given Carlo's lack of production (109 points in 610 games), this would be a stretch to see someone give that up for him.

Ultimately though, teams get incredibly desperate ahead of the trade deadline, and if players like Rasmus Andersson and Ivan Provorov don't become as available as many expected, look for Carlo's price to increase as teams gear up for a deep run in 2024/25.
