Refused: Mitch Marner Reportedly Turns Down Massive Contract Offer From the Maple Leafs

Mitch Marner has reportedly turned down a massive contract offer from the Toronto Maple Leafs, according to an insider.

The Leafs are once again at the top of their division, tied with the Florida Panthers at 40 points. Again this season, nothing seems to stop the Leafs from reaching their goals, especially Mitch Marner , despite the plethora of injuries that struck the lineup since the season started.

Despite all the key players who missed games, the Leafs are having success on the ice, thanks to all the other players who rose up when they had to.

That's Mitch Marner's case.

The 27-year-old forward already had 41 points in only 31 games, including 10 goals. He leads his team in points, with a 10-point lead on the second-best scorer: Willam Nylander.

Despite underwhelming performances in last year's playoffs, Marner is showing that he can be successful in Toronto despite the tense market.

Marner is set to enter free agency next summer, and if general manager Brad Treliving doesn't want to risk seeing him walk away fro the team with nothing in return, he'll do all he can to sign the player to a contract extension before July 1st, or even better, before the trade deadline.

According to JD Bunkis, the Leafs already made an offer to Marner, but it was refused by the player's camp.

There's no doubt that If Marner enters the free agent market, there will be a bidding war that will involve many more teams than Toronto.

Marner's camp is well aware of that situation, just like Treliving.
