Today the Pittsburgh Penguins and Winnipeg Jets have made a trade involving prospect Rutger McGroarty.

The Winnipeg Jets have finally ended the Rutger McGroarty trade saga. After months of speculation surrounding a potential trade request, Rutger McGroarty has been sent to the Pittsburgh Penguins.

As of now, the return in the trade is unknown. What is known is that Rutger McGroarty is now a Pittsburgh Penguin. With the trade, it will be interesting to see if he joins the team immediately or if he still returns to the University of Michigan for another season.

As more information is provided we will continue to pass it along to you.

Fellow former 14th overall pick Brayden Yager is going to Winnipeg.

After this swap, the Pittsburgh Penguins bring in the more NHL-ready Rutger McGroarty. In return, they give up Brayden Yager who is younger and could have more upside due to his high-end shot and skating. Rutger McGroarty is now expected to join the Pittsburgh Penguins for the upcoming season in the NHL.

With this trade, Kyle Dubas is betting on his current roster and trying to make an immediate upgrade. In the process, he and the Penguins hope that Brayden Yager won't make them look silly by outperforming Rutger McGroarty in the long run.
