Vancouver Canucks reportedly active on the goalie trade market as Thatcher Demko injuries loom
Vancouver Canucks goaltender Thatcher Demko got injured during the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs and the team is looking for a backup goalie as a precaution.
The Vancouver Canucks were a very exciting team to watch last season, but when it mattered most in the playoffs, they fell short due to major injuries, most notably to their goalie Thatcher Demko, against the Edmonton Oilers.
The situation appears grim for the Canucks, as Vancouver reporter Rick Dhaliwal has revealed that Thatcher Demko isn't healing the way many were expecting, and he may not be at 100% by the time the season begins.
Thatcher Demko did not skate from the time he suffered the injury until his latest public update around the NHL Entry Draft, and with no breaking developments on that front, the Canucks organization is starting to get a little concerned and are exploring the goalie market as an insurance policy.
If Thatcher Demko doesn't improve in the next couple of weeks, the organization will have some serious decisions to make, as a slow start to the season without a healthy goalie could be disastrous, especially if the Canucks miss the playoffs by a couple of points. Winning games in October is just as important as winning games in April.
