Commissioner Gary Bettman and the NHL made a major official announcement for the next season, with less than two months remaining in the offseason.

In breaking news, the league released the official pre-season schedule for all 32 teams.
It will begin on Saturday, September 21st, when the Pittsburgh Penguins will clash with the Buffalo Sabres, and the St. Louis Blues will face the Dallas Stars at 7 PM ET.
Even though the NHL season is set to start on October 4th, with the Buffalo Sabres and the New Jersey Devils facing off in Czechia, the pre-season games will end on October 5th.
