French pole vaulter Anthony Ammirati lost out on an Olympic medal after his crotch got caught on the crossbar during an Olympic competitive event.

Anthony Ammirati was completely gutted after this quite embarrassing moment occurred. He realized his dreams came to a halt for such a terrible reason.

French Pole Vaulter Anthony Ammirati's Olympic medal dreams came crashing down after his Pole struck the other pole😶😭

«It's a big disappointment. I'm a bit gutted» he said.

Ammirati is only 21-years-old and was attempting to secure a medal on Saturday in his track and field event. Unfortunately when his crotch got caught on the bar, he ended up falling to the ground instead of making it over.

He made his attempts four times, and ended up finishing the competition with a total score of 5.60, which put him in 12th place. Due to this low ranking, he did not qualify to move on to the next round, slashing his dreams at a medal.

The French pole vaulter Anthony Ammirati got disqualified for hitting the bar with his "baguette." You could say he got disqualified for using two poles.

"I was disqualified from the Olympics because my junk is too big" -Anthony Ammirati for the rest of his life, probably.

The men's pole vault was the only event that Ammirati was going to be competing in at the 2024 Olympics. What a sad and terrible way for him to go out. During the 2022 Mediterranean Games, he did come in second place, as well as finishing first at the World Athletics U20 Championships.

Ammirati has been interested and involved in pole vaulting since he was a child. He previously trained in Clermont-Ferrand back in 2021, and then joined the Envol Club in 2023. Envol was founded by Olympian Renaud Lavillenie.

«I started pole vaulting at 12 because a girl in my club was doing it. I saw her jump and absolutely wanted to try it,» he wrote via Instagram in May 2023.

The 2024 Paris Olympics were Ammirati's first time at the Games.

«A childhood dream coming true. Officially selected for my first Olympic games in Paris ❤️,» he wrote via Instagram last month before the opening ceremony. «What better than making them at home 🇫🇷. A big thank you to the whole team that accompanies me every day in my struggles! We did it 🤩.»

«Safely arrived at the Olympic village :). Saturday the hostilities start with the qualifying competition at 10:10,» he captioned a Thursday, August 1, Instagram snap. «Can't wait to jump with the encouragement of the French audience.»

We wish Ammirati better days ahead and hope he will be able to have a much better showing possibly at the next Olympic Games in four years.
