Martin Necas has been at the center of a lot of drama during the 2024 offseason and today that drama finally seems to be coming to an end with a major update.

The Carolina Hurricanes announced today that they have agreed to a contract extension with Martin Necas. The news first reported by Elliotte Friedman comes as a surprise after recent news revealed the two sides were not close to a deal.

The #Canes have agreed to terms with forward Martin Necas on a two-year contract extension!
Just after the Carolina Hurricanes were eliminated from the Stanley Cup Playoffs rumblings came out that Martin Necas was hoping to be traded. Instead, his representatives and General Manager Eric Tulsky worked out a short-term deal. As of now, it remains unclear whether or not Martin Necas is open to a long-term deal with the Hurricanes.
Either way, the Carolina Hurricanes now have more time and ability to work on a trade or a longer-term contract. They also secure Martin Necas back in their top six for a Stanley Cup run in 2024-25.
