The Washington Capitals have a star of the future in Ryan Leonard, but now he reveals why he will remain in college in 2024/25.

In the first round of the 2023 NHL Draft, the Washington Capitals believe they found a stud in Ryan Leonard, but now fans will need to wait at least another year to see the star forward. Many expected him to sign this off-season, but now he's opened up on the decision to return to Boston College, and why he made the tough call to forego signing his first professional contract.
Leaving my team after losing that last game was just something I couldn't do.
The game Leonard is referring too was the National Championship Game against Zeev Buium's University of Denver, where the No. 1 overall Boston College fell in a tight 2-0 game. The 18-year old winger had a stellar season, tallying an impressive 60 points in 41 games played, and with his combination of size and skill, it's easy to see why Washington are excited about him.
This latest development means waiting another year to see him in either the NHL or the AHL, but it must be a positive sign for the Capitals as he has shown great leadership and dedication as a teammate, so now we will wait and see if BC can go one better in 2025.
