Former Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Jack Campbell made a major life decision off the ice this summer as he married his fiancé Ashley Sonnenberg.

The veteran netminder made it official on July 13th, dedicating himself to his wife for the rest of their lives. Finally, things seem to be looking up for the goaltender after a brutal year on the ice where he lost his job with the Edmonton Oilers, got demoted to the AHL, and was eventually bought out at the beginning of the offseason. Luckily, all those things are in the past now as he looks for a new start with the Red Wings next season as he begins a new era of his personal life as well.
The #LetsGoOilers are buying out the final 3 years @ $5M Cap Hit on Jack Campbell's contract. Buyout cap hit:

Year 1 $1.1M ($3.9M savings)
Year 2 $2.3M ($2.7M savings)
Year 3 $2.6M ($2.4M savings)
Years 4, 5, 6: $1.5M Cap Hit (cost)
UPDATE: The #RedWings today signed goaltender Jack Campbell to a one-year contract with an AAV of $775K.
Here are a few pictures Campbell and his wife shared on social media ahead of their special day.

Oddly enough, The Red Wings have four goaltenders under contract for next season. In addition to Campbell, they also have Alex Lyon, Cam Talbot, and Ville Husso. As such, his real status with the team is not clear. As he is on a league minimum contract, he very well could be waived and sent back to the AHL. After all, there are only two positions available on the team. Will one of the other goaltenders get moved? Could Campbell himself get traded? Only time will tell.
