Joe Pavelski had announced shortly after the Dallas Stars were eliminated from the 2024 NHL playoffs by the Edmonton Oilers that he was going to call it quits.

On Tuesday, he appeared on SiriusXM NHL Network Radio with Scott Laughlin and spoke about how he almost returned to his former club, the San Jose Sharks.
«I've talked to [Sharks GM Mike Grier] a little bit. They look like they are turning a corner with some of their draft picks and some of the guys they brought in,»

The San Jose Sharks improved a ton this offseason, but had they added Pavelski on top of all that they have done, it would have been the cherry on top.
Pavelski would go on to say:
«Just 13 great years in San Jose. [It is] a special place. It will always be where we got the start. There will always be a part of me there.»

Unfortunately, things didn't materialize, and he would officially announce his retirement from the NHL. After 18 years in the NHL, Pavelski laced up the skates in 1332 NHL games and collected 476 goals and 592 assists for 1068 total points.
Pavelski played 13 years with the Sharks before the organization went into a full-on rebuild, and he signed with the Dallas Stars and played five years.
Congrats on a amazing career, Pavelski!!
