This afternoon a new report has surfaced revealing that the Utah Hockey Club could be looking to trade one of their top young defensemen over the last several years.

The Utah Hockey Club has started off its existence as a franchise with a bang. At the NHL Draft, they selected the son of former Hall of Fame player Jarome Iginla Tij Iginla. Then on day 2 of the NHL Draft GM Bill Armstrong made several major upgrades to their NHL roster trading for Mikhail Sergachev and John Marino.
BIG TRADE ALERT

Following a trade with New Jersey we have acquired John Marino!
These trades majorly upgraded the Utah Hockey Club defense it also made some of their defensemen on last year's squad more expendable. With this in mind, there are now reports that former first-round pick Victor Soderstrom could be on the move soon.

Reporter connects Victor Soderstrom to a new home this offseason

In a new post on X, Utah Hockey Club insider and reporter Craig Morgan revealed that while the team is open to bringing back former top pick Victor Soderstrom they are also willing to trade him.
Also hearing that while Utah is open to re-signing RFA D-man Victor Söderström, the team is also exploring trades for the 2019 11th overall pick.

At the time of the 2019 NHL Draft Victor Soderstrom was looked at as an undersized puck-moving defenseman with a lot of offensive upside. However, since then he has failed to find his offensive upside only tallying 12 points in over 50 games played.
Söderström, 23, has yet to establish any kind of NHL foothold, totaling 53 NHL games (1 G, 11 pts.) over the past three seasons.
With Victor Soderstrom only being 23 years old he still has plenty of potential in front of him. The Utah Hockey Club seems to be in a win-now mode which could mean moving Victor Soderstrom to a new team where he can shine and develop more.
As the offseason continues to play out this situation will continue to develop but the longer that Victor Soderstrom remains unsigned the more likely a trade becomes.
